Summary

He’s the new hockey team captain
Also my roommate
And now my fake fiancé。。。

When I discover my boyfriend is cheating on me, I quit my job, and move to take up a role as the PR manager for a hockey team。
Only problem? There’s a mix up。
Now I’m stuck sharing a flat with the grumpy, hockey captain。
Worse? (or is that better?) there’s only one bed!
Even worse? My ex too has moved, as the captain of the rival team, ugh!
When my roomie realizes how much I want revenge he comes up with a plan。
He asks me to pose as his fake fiancée on his trip home。
In return I get to be seen with him, and show up my ex。
I’ve sworn off men, there’s no way I can fall for him。
But what happens when sparks fly?

This is a standalone roommates to lovers, fake relationship, one-bed, hockey romance with a possessive hero, a woman who doesn't hesitate to go toe-to-toe with him, and a champagne guzzling Great Dane who plays matchmaker by mistake。 HEA guaranteed。

This book will release late August。

I felt like this book was too long for me and there wasn’t enough smut for me either。 It was cute though and I love that he is 6’6” and strong。

My review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Without giving too much away, this book contains spice and a lot of banter between the two main characters。 It is a book that unites two people through heartache and ultimately ends in a HEA。 Initially, I found it challenging to navigate the multitude of characters introduced at the beginning of the book。 However, I kept going and I'm glad I did。 It turned out to be a good, quick read。 Thank you @authorl。steeleFor the opportunity to read this as an arc。Let me know if you picke My review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Without giving too much away, this book contains spice and a lot of banter between the two main characters。 It is a book that unites two people through heartache and ultimately ends in a HEA。 Initially, I found it challenging to navigate the multitude of characters introduced at the beginning of the book。 However, I kept going and I'm glad I did。 It turned out to be a good, quick read。 Thank you @authorl。steeleFor the opportunity to read this as an arc。Let me know if you picked it up and what your thoughts are。🤗 。。。more

CW; Attempted sexual assault (multiple times), mention of suicide, eating disorderFinal thoughts: I've never been so happy to finish a book。 This book should be a tale of caution to all authors who think jumping on the hockey romance bandwagon is easy。 It's not and you need to actually learn about the sport before attempting to write about it。 I said most of my thoughts while rage reviewing during my reading of the book but damn this book was long。 I don't know if it's just because there was so CW; Attempted sexual assault (multiple times), mention of suicide, eating disorderFinal thoughts: I've never been so happy to finish a book。 This book should be a tale of caution to all authors who think jumping on the hockey romance bandwagon is easy。 It's not and you need to actually learn about the sport before attempting to write about it。 I said most of my thoughts while rage reviewing during my reading of the book but damn this book was long。 I don't know if it's just because there was so much flip flopping between characters and all the inaccuracies but usually a book this length only takes me two nights。 This one took a few nights, part of a morning, and broke my Kindle along the way (that's a joke, my screen decided to go out 90% of the way into the story but this book was so painful I think it just gave up on life)。Three quarter of the way thoughts: 99% sure this author knows nothing about hockey。 At one point they said there was a half time 。。。 there is no half time in hockey。 They also called skates "skate boots。" Honestly, I don't know why I haven't DNFed this with how confusing Rick is and the total inaccurate terms and info about the sport。 It's like they think they're writing about soccer。 But I'm pretty positive soccer doesn't just randomly bring a captain and PR person in when there's just one month left in the season 。。。 and that's all playoffs。 I thought maybe we'd skipped a few months and I'd missed it right up until she said she'd had three jobs in three months and then I realized that wasn't the case。 So is the season just a month long or did the team do just well enough to make the playoffs and then they decided to bring Rick in? I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS!It's also worth noting that you don't go on "tour" in the NHL。 It's not like some Disney on Ice type of situation, it's like every other sport where you have a season where games are both at home and away。 A coach almost definitely wouldn't tell you about someone dying during the game (and that's where the "half time" was used 。。。 there are three periods。 There is no half time break)。 They're loathe to even tell players that their wives went into labor until the game is over and that's something the player can actually do something about。 They also use "for" every time they mean "because," it's like they're trying to make the book sound sophisticated when it's anything but。 Half way through thoughts: I'm disappointed my brain doesn't let me DNF because the hockey inaccuracies are driving me nuts (they called the rink a "court" at least once and had a pop star drop the opening face off puck 。。。。 and that just in the chapter or two I read tonight)。 They also had two second periods and somehow were tied after one of them but then came back on the ice for the next second period and even though the rival team scored two times then as well, the end score was still 3-2? I don't even know what's happening anymore。 Also, the captain wouldn't have daily meetings with the PR rep, he doesn't have time for that shit。 Not to mention you don't just randomly hire a player to be "Captain" like he's in an official team role (capitalization is the author's doing) as the person who organizes what they're doing at practice all the time。 And if Edward is GM, he's not also the coach 。。。 that's not how this works。 I can usually ignore all the hockey inaccuracies in books but between that and the typos, I can't do it。 Especially since I'm pretty sure the author just wrote the hockey theme to try and jump on the hockey romance craze。It's also confusing as hell because they keep saying it's not real but also say things in private that make it real, etc。 。。。more

Rick and Gio have a whirlwind fake/real engagement。 They are so good together and even miserable when apart。 There are a lot of things going on from the past that tries to tear them apart。 You learn a lot of the background of the characters and their friendships past and present。 Great story!I received this book for free and am freely giving my review。

AHH, Rick and Gio had me in the best way。 This book although a bit long, never had me bored。 Of course throw hockey in any book and I’m instantly hooked。 I love how Ms。 Steele brings in the characters from her other worlds to meld this book into them。 And let me say the twists and turns were something I did not expect, but delighted in them just so much!

DNF 10%。 Too many characters and names were introduced in the first pages so it came across ass messy for me。

If I could give negative stars I would。 What utter garbage。

i thought the plot twist/conflict was stupid。 im also not a fan of the infatuation at first sight and constant horniness。 both of the books i’ve read by this author contained those things, so i don’t think i’ll be reading more from her。 it was still a good book, but not my favorite。

Ok so I have some thoughts。 There was WAAAAAAY to much going on in this book。 I felt like the writing was all over the place。 Things were tossed in to grab attention。 I really don’t understand the whole switching from playing hockey to joining the military and then going back to hockey。 I felt like he was bipolar with how one minute he was obsessed with her and then there was this mysterious dialogue of him wanting revenge out of nowhere? Then speaking of that, it really didn’t make sense to me Ok so I have some thoughts。 There was WAAAAAAY to much going on in this book。 I felt like the writing was all over the place。 Things were tossed in to grab attention。 I really don’t understand the whole switching from playing hockey to joining the military and then going back to hockey。 I felt like he was bipolar with how one minute he was obsessed with her and then there was this mysterious dialogue of him wanting revenge out of nowhere? Thank you to the author, L。 Steele, for sending me an E-ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review。 DNF @ 42%I do not DNF books, so I feel really bad about this。 However, it’s been almost a month of me reading this book and I just couldn’t get through it as much as I tried to。 I honestly was already giving up at the 15% mark but I pushed myself to read more。 This is a steamy hockey romance with the following tropes:• Enemies to Roomies to Lovers• Fake Engagement leading to Marriage of Con Thank you to the author, L。 Steele, for sending me an E-ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review。 DNF @ 42%I do not DNF books, so I feel really bad about this。 However, it’s been almost a month of me reading this book and I just couldn’t get through it as much as I tried to。 I honestly was already giving up at the 15% mark but I pushed myself to read more。 This is a steamy hockey romance with the following tropes:• Enemies to Roomies to Lovers• Fake Engagement leading to Marriage of Convenience• Forced proximity• One bed• Possessive Alphahole British heroI did not like the writing style。 There was a lot of dialogue in this book that just made me cringe。 This book also does not really have a plot。 It’s just the characters bickering back and forth, and almost every chapter is just smut with literally NO progression in the storyline。 Also, I feel like some of the tropes in this story were added in just to be there。 The reasoning for the fake engagement and the one bed, for example, were so unnecessary and random。 The romance in this book, too, was very insta-lovey and there’s no reasoning as to why they even had an attraction to one another to begin with。 This whole book was just so confusing 😭。 Honestly, I probably wouldn’t have minded any of that if the characters were at least likeable as I’ve read books before that are mostly character-driven than plot-driven。 But, nope, these characters were SO infuriating, especially the MMC。 He is the epitome of a “man-child”。 He was so immature about everything and just wanted to resolve issues by physically fighting everyone。 His internal thoughts were overbearing and cringey。 I did not like the FMC either。 Both the main characters and side characters were very unpleasant to read about。 Lastly, this book is so long …??? It’s 80 chapters。 I don’t mind long books if it’s necessary but for the type of story this is, that is way too much。 Overall, this book was just not for me :( 。。。more

The Ice KissLoved this book the story line and both characters。 I love the way their story unfolded and was not told in bits, which can be annoying。 Love the champagne guzzling dog Tiny he needs a book to himself 🤣。 Going to read, Edward and Mira story now。 I also like the way the book intertwines with all your other books。 ❤️

Fairly good but there are several grammatical and spelling errors which annoyed me。 I also didn’t like the frequent repetitiveness which made the book drag on longer than needed in certain scenes。 There’s a lot of telling rather than showing。 I had a hard time deciphering if this was British or more US in culture。 (The spellings are not British English where they should be, some slang seems out of place)。

okay。 i’m being brutally honest。 this book was SO confusing。 it was like i started reading at the 10th chapter or the second book because it just threw me in。 it’s like the author expected me to already know the characters。 the relationship between the two main characters honestly didn’t make any sense at all。 like they hated each other from the minute the met i guess? but were also attracted to each other? he didn’t talk to her first before telling everyone they were engaged, and he only did it okay。 i’m being brutally honest。 this book was SO confusing。 it was like i started reading at the 10th chapter or the second book because it just threw me in。 it’s like the author expected me to already know the characters。 the relationship between the two main characters honestly didn’t make any sense at all。 like they hated each other from the minute the met i guess? but were also attracted to each other? he didn’t talk to her first before telling everyone they were engaged, and he only did it because she called the cops on her sister like 10 years ago? it’s makes zero sense why he did what he did。 the writing also felt very fan fictiony to me。 there also weren’t any trigger warnings anywhere! so if you want to read this book, TW for: ed, sa, and abuse。 they aren’t the focus of the book but they are brought up MULTIPLE TIMES。 i was so excited to read this book and was so underwhelmed。 most of the things they said and did to each other just grossed me out。 anyway, don’t read this。 。。。more

3。5 ⭐️s - Rick and GioThis author has the alphahole written perfect。 You wanna say he’s a prick but my goodness it’s hot。 The spice level was so good。 I mean I want a guy to growl when people say my name 😂。 But then their minds got involved and the self talk and then mixed signals were just too much。 What happened to Kevin? Why wasn’t Dennis reported? Why would anyone try to blame the family happenings on someone else。 Towards the end I skimmed because it was almost rehashing what the whole book 3。5 ⭐️s - Rick and GioThis author has the alphahole written perfect。 You wanna say he’s a prick but my goodness it’s hot。 The spice level was so good。 I mean I want a guy to growl when people say my name 😂。 But then their minds got involved and the self talk and then mixed signals were just too much。 What happened to Kevin? The ice kiss is a decent addition to L Steele’s marriage of convenience series。 I liked the main characters Gio and Rick and the story is sweet but predictable。 There wasn’t anything new that hasn’t already been done before。 I would have liked there to be twists that I didn’t see coming。 The book is well written and think many readers will enjoy it。

4。5 ⭐✨ Let's Pretend Overall quality of writing was really good。 Great storyline and well rounded characters。 There were quite a few glitches in proofreading which was why I didn't give 5 ⭐。 Pretending to be engaged to keep the ex away helps Gio。 For Rick, it's to get his grandmother to get heart surgery that she needs。 But。。。。。。 there's more behind Rick's motives which makes some trouble for these two。 No cheating or cliffhanger and you get the beginning of a very happy ever after。 Enjoy 🤓 4。5 ⭐✨ Let's Pretend Overall quality of writing was really good。 Great storyline and well rounded characters。 There were quite a few glitches in proofreading which was why I didn't give 5 ⭐。 Pretending to be engaged to keep the ex away helps Gio。 For Rick, it's to get his grandmother to get heart surgery that she needs。 But。。。。。。 there's more behind Rick's motives which makes some trouble for these two。 No cheating or cliffhanger and you get the beginning of a very happy ever after。 Enjoy 🤓 。。。more

Hard to readThe book started off with the author trying to introduce too many characters very quickly & it was hard to follow。 I had to go back & reread。 The initial exchange between Gio & Rick was a bit confusing because the interaction & irritating exchange seems to come out of nowhere。 I didn’t feel like the author set the scene up before the exchange。I tried to keep reading, hoping it would get better, but I still found it boring & didn’t get any better。I really wanted to like this book, but Hard to readThe book started off with the author trying to introduce too many characters very quickly & it was hard to follow。 I had to go back & reread。 The initial exchange between Gio & Rick was a bit confusing because the interaction & irritating exchange seems to come out of nowhere。 I didn’t feel like the author set the scene up before the exchange。I tried to keep reading, hoping it would get better, but I still found it boring & didn’t get any better。I really wanted to like this book, but it just didn’t do it for me。 。。。more

4。5⭐️Honestly I love a good Hockey Romance and L Steele did not disappoint with this medium burn standalone! Gio and Rick’s relationship was intense! you can feel the tension immediately and it continues to grow quickly。 There is a third act break up, and normally I don’t enjoy those very much。 This one was needed for character development。 Gio was a relatable character and I found myself comparing my own story to hers。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 From the constant POV changes, the high school level writing, to one of the worst hero ever。 Things the hero did: lies, wanted revenge, always horny for someone he supposedly blames for his sister suicide, ends the charade after yelling harsh things at her, still wants her yet can’t get rid of the blame, begs for her, tells her to leave after grandma dies when she got rid of her initial hatred just to support him… just no What’s even more surprising is that I finished the book
